Join Dallas Center for Photography for the first viewing of a collection of diverse photographic work by Dallas-based women artists. This will be the last exhibition in the DCP Community Gallery.
As part of Dallas Center for Photography’s year-long programmatic dedication to highlighting Women in Photography and our ongoing dedication to increasing the representation of diverse voices at our center and within the medium of photography at large, we are proud to present an exhibition in collaboration with Dallas-based women photographers – amplifying the diverse voices of our city while featuring the perspectives and stories of our city’s BIPOC community. Curated by renowned artist and advocate Vicki Meek, this exhibition, titled When We Speak, You Should Listen! will present new work by seven of Dallas’ distinguished early career artists in a timely conversation on womanness, exclusion, and erasure in the present day.
Featured artists include Nida Bangash, Ari Brielle, Ciara Elle Bryant, Inyang Essien, Victoria Gomez, Nitashia Johnson, and Shafagh Kalhor.
The in-person reception will be hosted on Saturday, July 22 from 6-8 pm. This event is free and open to all! RSVPs are strongly encouraged.
The exhibition will be open to the public in the DCP gallery through Friday, August 4. Gallery hours are Wednesday-Friday from 11 am – 5 pm and by appointment.
This program is made possible in part by our presenting sponsor Garland Camera, and a grant from Humanities Texas, the state affiliate of the National Endowment for the Humanities.
