For those whose tastes and humor tends to run a bit darker than average, the Dallas holiday season can be a bit stressful with its unrelenting push toward cheer. The Texas Triffid Ranch, Dallas’s pretty much only carnivorous plant gallery, hopes to rectify this with the return of its Nightmare Weekends Before Christmas gallery open houses, starting on Saturday, December 4 at noon, running until 5:00 pm, and repeating on December 11 and 18. (For those with Christmas Eve off, or those with last-minute carnivorous plant gift needs, we’ll also be open Friday, December 24 from noon to 5:00 pm as well.) Come by for an antidote to cheer poisoning by viewing unique enclosures for Asian pitcher plants (Nepenthes), South American pitcher plants (Heliamphora), Australian pitcher plants (Cephalotus), butterworts (Pinguicula), bladderworts (Utricularia), sundews (Drosera) and other carnivorous and protocarnivorous plants. As always, admission is free and masks are mandatory. For more information, directions, and previews of what to expect, please take a deep dive into http://www.texastriffidranch.com.
