Press Release
Willow Gallery is pleased to present their second exhibition “Wang Xun and Mason Bourne: Another Land” this May. 26. This will be both artists’ first joint exhibition in Beijing. Italian art advisor Filippo Bettini is invited as the curator.
After completing his BA degree in sculpture major from China Southwest University, Mason Bourne is now a graduate student at the École Supérieure d’Art du Nord Pas de Calais / Dunkerque – Tourcoing. Mason’s creative production revolves around classic figurative painting, presented in a contemporary manner. He explores emotions, hedonism, capturing faces and observing the beauty of life.
Wang Xun first studied painting at the Accademia di Belle Arti di Bologna and soon after in Accademia di Belle Arti di Venezia. Her art is focused on two subjects, the freedom of beauty and the freedom of being. She tends to explore the existence and freedom of beauty in the interpretation of non-identity and various social ideologies so as to preserve the dignity of the creature itself. She also tries to figure out how life and poeticality can be free in the rules and boundaries of reality in her works.
Both artists are born in the 1990s and have experienced studying in Europe. Their different art styles can be regarded as typical cases of the new generation in the context of Chinese and Western dual art education. “Another Land” has not only a geographical meaning. These are young artists who are raised up in an Eastern cultural background, throwing themselves into the surrounding of the Western language environment, artistic traditions and education system. Their art road is mixed with emotional conflict, spiritual confusion and the desire to explore, all of these end with the brushes falling on the canvas as an exit.
Willow Gallery is a brand-new gallery with a global perspective, focusing on the promotion of emerging young artists, the cultivation of new generation collectors and the popularization of contemporary art. The exhibition will continue until Jun. 23rd, 2019.
