Name of Call: Convention Center in OKC Seeks Interior Public Art

The City of Oklahoma City announces this call for professional artists to submit their qualifications to be considered for public art for the two atriums of the new MAPS 4 Convention Center currently under construction. The goal of this public art commission is to create a monumental public art experience to capture the grandeur of Oklahomans’ spirit and resources, in one or both of the glass-fronted atria. These atria create the grand entrance to the Convention Center.

The Addison Arbor Foundation (AAF) is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization with a mission to promote and enhance landscaping, public art, public parks and parks and recreation programs of the Town of Addison. To continue to grow and develop the Town of Addison’s public art collection, AAF, in cooperation with the Town’s Parks Department, is issuing a call to identify talented Texas/Southwest Regional Artists working in a variety of media and styles for potential public art projects. Selected artists may be considered for commissions to design and fabricate potential public artworks or may submit completed works for purchase consideration by AAF.

The Louisiana Percent for Art Program is seeking artists or artist teams to design and implement two (2) site-specific installations of original design for the Computer Science and Technology Building at Southeastern Louisiana University in Hammond, Louisiana.  The artwork may be subject to direct sunlight (UV radiation) and must be unique, permanent, and require very minimal long-term maintenance. Specifics for each of the commissions are included in the full Call to Artists document with budgets for each. More detailed specifications will be given to artists selected to develop a proposal. Each commission will be considered separately. It is an open call to artists that meet the Eligibility criteria (page 4, section 3). All artists (national or international) are invited to apply.

The Annual National Drawing and Small Sculpture Show attracts works by contemporary artists across the country and is judged by a guest juror of national stature.  Resulting Purchase Awards have built an impressive Permanent Collection at Del Mar College.

This year’s 53rd show runs February 15, 2019, opening reception 6-8 p.m., and closes May 3, 2019.  Accepted artwork is displayed in the distinctive Joseph A. Cain Memorial Gallery.
