Our next Farmers Branch Carrollton Art Association meeting will be at our regular location, Farmers Branch Connection (Senior Center), 14055 Dennis Lane, Farmers Branch 75234, 10:00 am, Tuesday, October 18, 2022.
There will be a brief business meeting, followed by a demonstration by our guest artist, Ted Houston, lasting until noon; Ted will conduct a workshop from 1:00 pm to 3:00 pm. Ted’s demo and workshop will focus on his unique watercolor technique, using items like credit cards or plastic pieces to “scrape” tubed watercolors and regular brushes to create results. Pictures of Ted’s pieces are attached for your information.
Ted believes his technique can be fun, freeing and effective both for those that are new to watercolor and to those who are experienced. Stay for the workshop and try it out – I’m going to stick around and try it myself! Ted will bring some images for you try out, but you can bring your pictures or images to try out this technique.
You can view examples of Ted’s work at zhibit.org/tedhoustonart, including watercolor, oils, drawings, and prints. Check it out!
Jan Swann and I will bring some watercolor tubes to share, and some watercolor paper. Please bring a few brushes, mixing pan, and similar watercolor items for the workshop. An old credit card, plastic knife or scrap cut from a plastic container will be a main tool for this technique. We can share stuff as needed.
