University Health’s Salud-Arte: Art of Healing program seeks artists and artist teams to artfully enhance with original designs select locations/areas on twelve floors of the new Women’s & Children’s Hospital at University Health’s Medical Center campus. Designs will be printed on wall films, acrovyn, and/or other similar materials and be thoughtfully integrated within the architectural features of each floor. The building is set to open in early 2023. The commissioned artwork will thoughtfully respond to this unique context in a way consistent with the mission of University Health.

Name of Call: Public Art Competition Honoring Texas A&M University’s Mascot, Reveille

Texas A&M University announces an open competition for professional artists or artist teams to commission a site specific public art installation honoring Texas A&M University’s mascot, Reveille, a Rough Collie breed dog. Interested artists or artist teams will submit images of three previous projects of this scale. After selection by a jury, a $200,000 commission will be awarded. Deadline to apply is March 31, 2021.


Name of Call: San Pedro Creek Five Panel Mural
Eligibility: County: TX: Bexar

The San Antonio River Authority (River Authority), in partnership with Bexar County, seeks to commission a permanent mural (five panels) for the second segment of the San Pedro Creek Culture Park which is currently under construction. The mural may be rendered in hand-glazed or digitized porcelain tile, glass, ceramic, or stone mosaic tile, or other similar material suitable for the creek environment. The mural will serve as a signature work of art for one of the most culturally significant sections of the park.

The River Authority seeks applications from teams of artists (2-5 members) who will be responsible for the development of a cohesive design for all five panels (approximately 1600 square feet in total). Teams may include artists from multiple disciplines; however, each team must include at least one visual artist.

The selected artist team will be expected to review concepts with the River Authority and Bexar County to ensure that the artwork is appropriate for the site, with a final acceptance subject to approval by Bexar County Commissioners Court, who will become the owner of the artwork.

The City of Austin Art in Public Places (AIPP) program of the Cultural Arts Division, Economic Development Department seeks to commission four (4) local artists or artist teams to create permanent public artwork for stations related to fire and emergency medical services. The commissioned artwork should reflect the mission of the Austin Fire Department and Austin-Travis County Emergency Medical Services (AFD/EMS) “to create safer communities through prevention, preparedness, and effective emergency response.” Artworks should be integrated into the spaces of the stations. A range of materials and conceptual approaches are welcome!
