Clouds and Chaos: Jacob Hashimoto
Opening date: September 28, 2018
Closing date: April 7, 2019
Composed of thousands of discs or “kites” made of intricately cut paper collage and bamboo, internationally renowned artist Jacob Hashimoto will create a new site-specific sculpture for the Crow. The forthcoming installation, Nuvole – literally meaning “clouds” – will show how there is much to be found in both minute components and the large-scale meanings that can result from their accumulation. The work will weave around the gallery’s architecture and over major works from the Museum’s permanent collection, blurring the line between the work and the space it occupies.
Nuvole will be joined by a selection of Hashimoto’s latest largescale woodblock prints. Created over the last three years in collaboration with Durham Press in Pennsylvania, these works are now being exhibited for the first time in a U.S. Museum.
